Three hurt in Afghanistan bombing

Three civilians were injured Wednesday when a bomb exploded near a gas station in the Afghan capital of Kabul, the government says.

The Afghan Interior Ministry's confirmation of the bombing in the western outskirts of the city comes as officials are recognizing the improving capabilities of Afghanistan's Taliban-led insurgency, the newspaper Dawn said.

Meanwhile, the NATO International Security Assistance Force said in a statement Tuesday that the militant forces clashed with troops in Afghanistan's Kapisa province last Saturday.

As of March 16, an estimated total of 29 enemy dead and 12 wounded have been reported, the international group said of related casualties.

Two wanted insurgents, along with two of the militants' associates, were killed by ISAF forces during a Helmand province clash Monday, the group added.

Dawn said there are nearly 75,000 international troops in Afghanistan to improve the Afghan military and battle insurgency groups.
