Things in ruling alliance are quite bad, says Premier Filat
Moldovan Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Filat has admitted, albeit reluctantly, that the governing Alliance for European Integration (AEI-2) comes across internal problems, and things in the governing coalition are quite bad.
On Monday night, Filat was guest of the ProTV Channel and said that the parties forming the AEI-2 [the LDPM, the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party] differ from one another substantially, and on some issues they have just diametrically different positions.
Commenting the accusations against him made last weekend by Acting President Marian Lupu concerning Filat's allegedly 'secret meetings' with Communist Party leader Vladimir Voronin, Filat recommended Lupu to behave with more self-respect and dignity.
"A head of state, even an acting head, should not go as low as such baseness. I have seen quite many manifestations of political cowardice, but what upsets me the most is lie. I was meeting with Voronin not secretly, but in the Government Building and in the headquarters of the MCP and LDPM. And I would like very much Marian Lupu and Mihai Ghimpu to hold meetings with Voronin, too, so as to try and work out a way out of the crisis", said Vladimir Filat, and emphasized that any alliance between the Communist and Liberal Democratic Parties is absolutely out of the question.
Asked to explain why many new deputy ministers would not be appointed for so long, the Premier replied that this procedure has not been stipulated in the AEI formation agreement, on the one hand, and that the Alliance party leaders appear to have different views on this issue. On the other hand.
"If I had to choose between party interests and work efficiency, I would choose efficiency", remarked the Prime Minister.
In his words, all the AEI constituent parties "are ready to negotiate the deputy minister appointment issue item by item".
