The results of the OSCE Astana summit, official declarations

Chisinau (Moldova.ORG) -- The OSCE Astana summit, did not create the expected results, this are the conclusions of the vice-prime minister of Moldova Victor Osipov. On 6-th of December, the vice - prime minister made a series of declarations and conclusions concerning the summit.

Mr. Osipov declared that: despite the initial intentions, the Astana summit has produced a minimal result, it was not possible to adopt all the documents that were planned at the phase of preparations. The delegations did not succeed to attain a consensus concerning the problematic of the conflicts. The member states feel easier to reconfirm their old commitments then to draw a new path and new actions for the solution of the crises
Also the vice-prime minister added that the absence of the interim-president Mr. Mihai Ghimpu, created supplementary difficulties and complicated the non-formal negotiations. Mr. Osipov declared: “If the level of representation of the Republic of Moldova would have been a top level, the possibilities to promote our objectives and the necessity of solving the Transnistrian conflict were bigger, it would have been possible, to organize meetings at the head of state level.”
In conclusion Mr. Osipov declared that the activities of the summit created no consensus between the participants, from three planned documents, was adopted just one. The states adopted a conservative approach to the discussed problems, and no new solutions were proposed for the frozen conflicts. Mr. Osipov declared that: the delegations of the participant states had divergent positions concerning the solution of conflicts, we have proposed solutions that they did accept.

Moldova representatives signed the final document of the summit, just because the absence of any document of the summit could discredit the activities of the OSCE summit, as declared Mr. Osipov.

The Interim President of Moldova Mr. Mihai Ghimpu refused to attend the activities of the summit, motivating that non-result discussions will not help and will not bring any results for the solution of the Transnistrian conflict and the retreat of the Russian army from the region.
