The inhabitants of Gagauz Yeri are expected to vote today

Today, September 9th, voting citizens living in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gaguzia (Gagauz Yeri) are expected at the polls.

The citizens will have to choose 35 deputies of autonomy’s legislature, out of 164 candidates. The new members of the assembly will have a mandate of four years.

Out of those 164 candidates registered, 74 people are nominated by political parties and 80 are independent candidates. Most politically affiliated candidates are from the Party of Communists, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Socialist Party.

There will be 62 polling stations opened on the whole territory of the region, working from 7.00 until 21.00. The ballot papers were printed in three languages: Romanian, Gagauz and Russian.
