The Council of Europe to observe the elections in Russia
A delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), formed out of 29 members, will visit the Russian Federation during March 1 - 5 in order to monitor the organization of the presidential elections. OSCE observers will also assist the elections.
“The delegation is due to meet the candidates in the presidential election, the Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission Vladimir Churov, NGOs and media representatives, and diplomats from some Council of Europe member states in Moscow, before observing the ballot on 4 March,” according to a press release of the Council of Europe.
The legal support during the visit will be provided by an expert from Venice Commission. A Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe delegation carried out a visit to Russia prior the elections during February 8 – 11, 2012.
The Presidential elections from Russia will be held on March 4, 2012.
