The Constitutional Court declared the Supreme Court's chairman dismissal illegal
Chișinău / Moldova.ORG/ -- After the communist MP, Sergiu Sirbu, said that the elimination of Muruianu, chairman of the Supreme Court, is illegal and said the procedure was carried out with serious violations, the Constitutional Court also agreed that the dismissal of the Supreme Court's chairman was not in accordance with the law.
That's because judges have discovered irregularities in the procedure of the chaiman's dismissal, according to a court order. Thus, the Parliament should review the respective decision.
The main reasons that led to the dismissal of Mr. Muruianu served: significant increase in complaints submitted by citizens to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) against the Republic of Moldova, in particular due to limited access to justice, falures in fulfilling judgments and others.
This way, the Alliance for European Integration argued the results of the Council, with respect to Muruianu.
Today, the Communists have challenged the dismissal of the head of the Supreme Court to the Constitutional Court and the decision was ultimately in their favor.
