Small cross border movement permits to Romania - room for corruption
The first Moldovan citizens that have tired to file demands for small cross border movement permits assert they will give it up because they face “bureaucratic problems”, DECA-press Agency informs.
They say when applying for the permit, they are asked for a document to justify their trip, certified by a public notary from Romania. The problem is they did not know about that.
People state these documents may be obtained for a sum of 800 to one thousand MDL. Those who pledge to make these documents are “businessmen” from the Romanian Consulate to Chisinau. Citizens also state these “businessmen” are the ones to get all the necessary documents for issuing Romanian citizenship to Basarabian people.
„I came to Chisinau from Cahul and now I have to go back there. I do not know whether I have the money and force to come to Chisinau again to apply for this permit. My daughter would rather come home from Romania”, Tudor Topa from Cahul district says.
The councilor Minister Petru Litu of the Consulate Section of Romania to Chisinau said, quoted by the Government Press Service, he “knows about the existence of some problems when applying for the permit, specifying these are just the requirements of EU”.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat, that visited today in the morning the Consulate Section, where he discussed with the disappointed citizens, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs will soon discussed with Bucharest authorities about the technical aspects of permits release. “I am sure all these measures will not create any problem for Moldovan citizens that have the right to travel in the region of Romanian borders without visas”, Filat stated.
The first permit should be issued on March 31.
