Seven U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq

Seven U.S. soldiers died Thursday in Iraq during combat operations, bringing to 18 the number of U.S. service personnel killed in September.

Four of the soldiers died in Anbar province, the Sunni-dominated territory west of Baghdad and three of the soldiers died in Nineveh in northern Iraq, CNN reported.

Coalition forces killed six suspected insurgents and arrested 25 others in raids Thursday in Tarmiya, Samarra, Tikrit, near Baquba and Kirkuk, CNN reported.

A total of 3,760 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq since the start of the war in March 2003, CNN reported. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
