Schools barred from dreadlock rules
The Zimbabwean Supreme Court has ruled that school authorities may not expel students for wearing their hair in dreadlocks.
The ruling stemmed from a case in which a 7-year-old Rastafarian boy was kept out of a government primary school because of his hairstyle, which violated the school's short hair rule, the New Zimbabwean reported Thursday.
The boy's family objected, saying the child's religious freedom was being infringed. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
