Russian newsreader LIVE: F*ck You, Barack Obama (VIDEO)
Chişinău / Moldova.ORG/ -- One of the latest Russian live news broadcast caused a wave of criticism and laughter. The reason was that the leading female newsreader Tatyana Limanova gave the middle finger pronouncing the US president’s name, Barack Obama.
The insulting gesture blew up the REN TV’s rating. Award-winning senior newsreader at the channel Tatyana Limanova dared to show the offensive gesture on speaking about Russian President Dmitry Medvedev assuming the rotating chairmanship of the Asia Pacific Cooperation organization.
Known as “flipping the bird” gesture appears right on saying the next phrase: “has been held by Barack Obama”.
The channels representatives claim that the Limanov’s gesture wasn’t addressed to Barack Obama. They also tried to explain the incident saying that the newsreader had been convinced to be off camera and providing only the voice-over for a video report, when she gave the middle finger for studio technicians.
Reportedly REN TV channel, which covers out to 120 million people across Russia, has always been perceived as quite a liberal one. But now it becomes more like a Kremlin’s channel because it has become controlled by some structures, related with Vladimir Putin, Russian prime-minister.
Recall that the happened coincides in time with the US-Russia relations getting worse because of antimissile defense issues.
