Russia asks for guarantees on NATO missiles shield

The Russian Federation asks again for guarantees that the anti-missiles defense system is not directed against them, the Russian President was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

“We are constantly being told that the missile defense system is not directed against Russia. We would like to receive military and technological guarantees fixed in legally binding documents,” Mr. Putin said.

Russian President wants serious agreements in the security realm and he will not accept ‘childish’ claims.

“Statements like ‘don’t be afraid, we promise that nothing will happen’ are clearly insufficient in the modern world. This is childish. We need guarantees and serious agreements in the security sphere,” the Russian President sai.d

Russia prefers a common system with NATO with a full-scale interoperability, while the military block wants two distinct systems which will be able to exchange information.

The Russians said several times that in case of talks failure, Kremlin could develop their missiles in Kaliningrad.
