Ruling alliance de facto no loner exists- Marian Lupu

Leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu has said that the ruling Alliance for European Integration (AEI), de factor, no longer exists.

In an interview with Voice of Russia radio station, Lupu said that there are some situations where he is ashamed to be in a coalition with Prime Minister Vladimir Filat and acting President Mihai Ghimpu, same as he had felt ashamed in some situation, when he was Communist Party' s member.

"We can state de jure that the alliance exists as a form of government, as an algorithm of Government's functioning and as a special form of voting in the Parliament. I read some analysts' comments, that after Filat's statements that he will run for presidency we can state that the AEI, de facto, no longer exists. I agree with this", Marian Lupu said.

He said when extreme right parties and extreme left parties "tear society to peaces", the DP will unite it, and this party leader has good prospects to become the head of Moldova after the November presidential elections. Marian Lupu said he is sure the Democratic Party will win in presidential race, because he trusts "Moldovan people's wisdom".

The DP representative said he relies on Gagauzian administration supporting and on supporting of his colleagues from the Alliance "Moldova Nostra" (AMN). Lupu added he created good relationships with the AMN from the moment of AEI foundation, and the AMN shares by 95% the principles and values of the DP.

Infotag's dossier: In the beginning of the past week, Prime Minister Vladimir Filat said that his party will participate in presidential elections with its own candidate, which caused a negative reaction of Marian Lupu. He accused Filat of AEI principles betrayal. In response, Filat said that all agreements made at the times of AEI creation are now invalid, and AEI leaders shall make new for the coming election campaign.
