Romanian Senator Viorel Badea Welcomes New Authorities in Moldova

The change of political power in Chisinau should promote the improvement of economic, political and strategic relations between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, senator Viorel Badea stated during a news conference in Infotag today.

In his words, the Romanian state does maximum it can to improve the bilateral relations, and "in the nearest future, a permanent bureau will be opened in Chisinau for handling the acute problems the Romanian citizens of the Republic of Moldova come across. As a representative of the Romanians of the world, I will be regularly informing the public about my activities to this effect, and will be meeting weekly with citizens of Romania living in the Republic of Moldova".

Badea also said that before the end of this year a National Agency for Citizenship Granting will start working in Bucharest. It is called to consider over 200 thousand applications submitted from the Romanians all over the world, who wish to restore their Romanian citizenship.

The Agency will have a staff of well-trained professionals large enough to manage within 3-5 months' time with the huge inflow of documents submitted for acquiring the Romanian citizenship. Presently, the Romanian Ministry of Justice fails to cope with this tremendous work volume, he said.

Viorel Badea thinks the introduction, last April, of entry visas for Romanians going to the Republic of Moldova has inflicted damage to bilateral economic relations. To help improve them, a Business Center will be established in Chisinau for people of business from various countries, who will try to improve the economic and social situation in Moldova, he said.

Romanian senator Viorel Badea came to Moldovan capital on the invitation of Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca to attend two national holidays - the Moldova Independence Day of [August 27] and the Limba Noastra cea Romana [Our Romanian Language Day] holiday of August 31.
