Rice to meet with African dignitaries
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice traveled to Ethiopia Wednesday to discuss peace and security in the region.
Rice is scheduled to meet with the heads of states and ministers from the Great Lakes area that include Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Congo, the State Department said on its Web site. She also is scheduled to have bilateral meetings with Ethiopian government officials.
Rice was to discuss developments in Somalia and implementation of Sudan's Comprehensive Peace Agreement with cabinet ministers from the east African countries, as well as senior representatives of the African Union and United Nations.
Rice is scheduled to travel to Brussels Thursday to attend sessions Friday among NATO's 26 allies. Topics are expected to include Afghanistan, Kosovo, the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty and the upcoming NATO Summit in Bucharest. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
