The Social Democratic Party (PSD) is worried about the evolution of events in the Serbian province Kosovo and hopes that this case will not serve as a premise for the frozen conflicts from Europe, DECA-press Agency communicates.
A press release of the press service of the faction mentions that „PSD considers that the unilateral proclamation of the independence of province Kosovo, part of the territory of a sovereign state, member of UNO, without the approval of the constitutional authorities of Serbia and of the United Nations Organization, constitutes a violation of the sovereignty of Serbia, as well as of UNO Charter, of the Resolution 1.244 of the Security Council and of the Final Act of the Conference for security and cooperation in Europe and it may cause the beginning of a series of separatist protests not only in Europe, but all over the world”.
„We are sure that the adoption of some unilateral decisions, which may affect the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of a European state, is not the best solution for this conflict and it can cause the intensification of conflicts”, the cited documents says.
PSD considers that the UNO mission in Kosovo „must take immediate measures, according to its mandate, including cancel the decisions made by the self-administration bodies from PristinaЃh.
„The viable solution for the situation from Kosovo, which would be accepted both by citizens of Kosov and by the ones of Servia, may be identified only in the framework of some honest negotiations which are not influenced by some definite interests from abroad. The policy of double standards, promoted by some important actors, can subminate the norms of the international law and to the destruction of the security system of the world. Obviously, these negotiations will not be easy, but the goal of a peaceful resolution of the conflict without any war commits both parts to accept the negotiation pathЃh, the press release also says.
Social-democrats made an appeal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of RM „to display the Republic of Moldova's position regarding the non-recognition of the independence of the Serbian province Kosovo and promote this position at the European and international level”. // DECA-Press
