Pro-western coalition blames communists for not yielding power
The Alliance for European Integration presumes the Moldovan Communist Party (CPRM) simply does not wish to make what it must by law - to officially pass the state power over to the majority alliance of the said 4 parliamentary parties.
On Tuesday, AEI party leaders waited for over an hour for CPRM representatives to come for a meeting, at which the Alliance was going to start a dialog to put an end to political crisis.
The Alliance wrote in a Statement today that for the first time since 2001, the republic has received a parliamentary majority reflecting a direct support by a majority of voters - over 51%, which constitutes over 800 thousand citizens.
In previous parliaments, the Communists gained majority only thank to re-distribution of mandates, but have never won over a half of ballots during elections, the Statement said. So, in such conditions the CPRM must recognize the new governing majority, otherwise the party is risking to remain "behind the board of a constructive political dialog".
The Alliance reckons the Communist's behaviour is fraught with serious social, economic and political consequences - aggravation of domestic political instability, blocking of formation of central governance organs, obstacles to restoring relations with international financial institutions and to resuming their financial assistance, a danger for Moldova to remain insolvent at servicing its external credits.
