Hundreds of protesters gathered today the Unity Square of Iasi, the second largest city of Romania located in the North-Eastern part of the country, demanding the resignation of president Traian Basescu.
Among the protesters there were also teenagers, members of the opposition political parties who chanted “Down with the Government! Basescu - out!” Around 2:00 PM (local time), the demonstrators headed downtown where they chanted in front of the local prefecture.
The police officers watched the demonstrations which were peaceful, but loud.
This is the fourth day in a row when Romanians around the country are rallying against the government and are demanding the resignation of the president. They are also dissatisfied with president Basescu’s reforms in the health care system. The protests might continue tomorrow.
