Progress in confidence-building measures between Moldova, Transnistria assessed in Germany
A conference organized by the OSCE Mission in Moldova started in the German town Garmisch-Partenkirchen on 9 November. The meeting's goal is to assess the progress made in the elaboration and implementation of measures to bolster confidence and security between the two banks of the Dniester river in 2010, the government's communications and press relations department has said.
Also, measures to provide assistance in 2011 are expected to be discussed.
The event is held in the presence of political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol, international partners involved in the format of talks on the Transnistrian settlement, as well as the co-heads of the Joint Control Commission in charge of the situation in the security zone.
It is worth mentioning that the conference takes place ahead of the next round of negotiations in the 5+2 format planned to be held in Kiev on 16 November, which makes the conference particularly important.
