Presidential election: Record turnout of Romanians living abroad
The vote of the Romanians living abroad is very important considering that the difference among the two candidates is so tight.
Romania's Foreign Affairs ministry declared on Monday that by 10PM, Romania time, in the 294 voting sections, 138,000 Romanians turned out to vote.
The turnout is a record - most Romanians voted in Italy - 42,000, Spain 35,000 and the Republic of Moldova 12,000. The last Romanian to cast a vote was at 7AM, Romania time, in the US.
Moldovan newspapers, quoted by Radio Romania Actualitati, read that Traian Basescu received almost 95% of the votes in the Republic of Moldova.
