President urges EU mission be delegated to Chisinau
President Vladimir Voronin urged within a telephone conversation with EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana a EU mission be delegated to Chisinau so that the European officials gather documentary evidences on the real current situation to avoid speculations which appeared in some mass media in the context of the events which had occurred in Chisinau on 7 April.
According to the President’s Press service, the head of state expressed the willingness of the Moldovan authorities to report to the European officials, photo and video material on the protests.
In this context, the EU High Commissar backed the idea of delegating a EU Mission to Moldova and mentioned that the request would be examined as a priority.
Javier Solana specified that the EU pays a special attention to Moldova, especially, within the European Neighbourhood Policy, what is going to be in the future as well.
The EU High Commissar the support of the Moldovan authorities in the situation created following the parliamentary scrutiny and mentioned the importance of a constructive dialog between the state’s authorities and the opposition to the interest of the country and the citizens.
On 7 April, protests of big swing took place in the capital city, which ended in the vandalisation of the buildings of the Parliament and Presidency. The estimative cost of the repair works surpasses 300 millions of leu.
