President of Moldova: The country will get rid of the Russian troops

Nicolae Timofti, the President of Moldova

“We will succeed to remove the Russian troops from the territory of the Republic of Moldova. This is a clear point in our country’s politics,” said the President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti today during an official visit to Bucharest.

Mr. Timofti stated that the topic has been discussed with Dmitry Rogozin, Russia’s envoy to Transnistria, who visited Moldova in mid-April.

“I have told Mr. Rogozin that I see no need of foreign troops and army on the ground of the Republic of Moldova,” said the President, adding that the conflict management will strongly depend on the politicians, their talks and the aims targeted.

Romanian President Traian Basescu is convinced that Moldova is not an interest zone of political and military structures of NATO, Russia and the European Union.

“Moldova can become a border-state of the European Union. We would be happy to see that. Forget about the military conflict between the EU and Russian Federation. There can be only economic conflicts,” said Traian Basescu.
