Poll: Four parties pass the threshold for Moldova's elections

“Our Moldova” Alliance (AMN) will not gain seats in the new Legislature at the preterm parliamentary election, the data of the Public Opinion Barometer(OPB) survey launched on July 20 show.

According to the survey, the 5% threshold will be passed by four parties as the PCRM, that will gain the parliamentary majority, followed by the PL, PDM and PLDM.

- Communists: 31,1 %
- Liberal Party - 13,2 %
- Democratic Party - 9,6 %
- Liberal Democratic Party - 7,2 %
- AMN - 2.6%
- Social Democratic Party - 1.0 %
- Christian Democratic People Party - 0.9 %
- Centrist Union - 0.7 %

The chairman of the Institute for Public Policy (IPP), Arcadie Barbarosie said that if the preterm parliamentary election takes place next Sunday, the parliamentary majority will be gained by the Communists Party of Moldova.

At the same time, the AMN will gain 2.6 percent of the votes. Thus, the survey organizers said that most of the AMN voters went to the PL, PLDM and PDM, but it is not sure for how long, as the majority are undecided to participate in the election.

The POB-July 2009 was carried out by the Sociology and Marketing Investigation Centre in collaboration with the IPP. The survey took place from June 26 to July 10, 2009, covering a sample of 1534 persons from 115 localities except Transnistria with a margin of error of 2.5%.
