Police: Bus crash caused by scared driver
A school bus driver crashed her vehicle Wednesday in Cincinnati as a result of fears the bus was being chased by an armed man, police say.
Cincinnati Police Lt. Mark Briede said the unidentified bus driver apparently drove through a stop sign and crashed into a pick-up truck in an attempt to escape what she thought was an armed man trying to stop the bus, The Cincinnati Enquirer said.
Briede said the incident began when the driver accidentally struck a parked car, causing the vehicle's owner to chase after the school vehicle. Children on the bus informed the bus driver the man, who was attempting to flag down the bus, was armed.
The kids were yelling 'Gun, gun. He's got a gun,'
Briede told the newspaper. It escalated from there.
Two Hope Academy students reported apparently minor injuries following the crash, which ended with the school bus tipped onto its side, the Enquirer said.
