Petru Lucinschi: „Moldova is committed to be in friendly terms with Russia”
„Moldova is committed to be in friendly terms with Russia”, the Moldovan ex-president, Petru Lucinschi, declares, DECA-press transmits.
Lucinschi made this declaration during a round table organized by the Social-Democratic Institute.
On Tuesday, the institute diffused a press release which summed up the results of the round table which mentions that Petru Lucinschi motivated the affirmation by the fact that Moldova and Russia „have much in common like cultural, economical and historic aspects”.
According to the cited document, the participants at the round table expressed their opinion that there is no contradiction between the CIS member quality and the European integration process, „but Moldova unfortunately doesn't take advantage of more than a half of these economic and political privileges, which the quality of member of CIS, GUAM offers”.
„As a result, Moldova misses the opportunities of participation in different economic, energetic, transit projects”, the press release says.
The cited document also specifies that „some separate opinions have been exposed, according to which in the new future, Moldova could suffer important losses as an effect of the reduction of transit of gas through the territory of the country reorientation of the hydroelectric power plant from Kuciurgan to Ukraine, the construction by Ukraine of some motor roads which would surround Moldova”.
Some participants to discussions came to the conclusion that the problems of Moldovan foreign policy are based on the lack of some proposals, concrete projects, economic and political projects from the part of Moldova by Russia, the lack of some concepts of foreign policy, the lack of a clear national identity, etc.// DECA-Press
