PDM is worried about the press freedom situation in Moldova

The Democratic Party from Moldova (PDM) is worried about the press freedom situation in Moldova. A declaration in this context was made on Wednesday, in time of a press conference, by Dumitru Diacov, leader of the faction.
He accused the communist governing authorities of the fact that they had instituted total control over the public audiovisual and declared that „Teleradio-Moldova” (TRM) covers only the communists’ point of view, DECA-press communicates.
„Democratic factions were supported in the elections by a big number of elections, who have the right to know everything about the activity of parties they have voted for. F TRM covers only the point of view of one single party, let it be financed from the money of this party, and not from the state budget”, the leader of PDM declared.
Dumitru Diacov considers this situation on the eve of parliamentary elections as abnormal and dangerous.
The prime-vice-president of PDM, Oleg Serebrian, declared that, in the last period of time, the power intensified its pressure on independent press, which is not controlled by communists. For instance, he referred to the TV channel „PRO-TV-Chisinau”, the radio station „Vocea Basarabiei”, newspaper „Timpul”.
PDM asks the government to give up anti-democratic practices of control over mass-media. The party mentions that, only in the situation of a free press, the future parliamentary elections will be considered free and fair. // DECA-Press
