Over 40m lei will go to organize and hold elections

A sum of 40.427 million lei will be allocated from the state budget for organizing and holding the 2009 legislative elections.

According to the president of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Eugeniu Stirbu, the money will be used to finance the activity of the CEC during elections, of the district electoral councils, electoral bureaus of polling places and electoral bureaus located abroad.

800,000 lei will be spent on opening polling stations at the embassies of Moldova abroad.

The CEC president also said that 64% of the money will go to organize the elections and pay remuneration, while 36% will be used on civic education activities, to print ballots and transport them to the settlements of the country.
