Next 5+2 meeting will take place in April

The next 5+2 meeting between the 7 participants in the Transnistrian conflict settlement will be organized in April, as per the 2011 Plan of the 5+2 work, approved at the Vienna informal meeting of the parties that ended on Tuesday.

Along with a discussion on the settlement situation upon the whole and the work of confidence building groups, the delegations focused on conditions needed for an official resumption of the work of The Permanent Conference on Political Issues of the Transnistrian Conflict Settlement (Format 5+2).

According to the Transnistrian ministry of foreign affairs' website, minister Vladimir Yastrebchak stated in Vienna that "only concrete practical results in resolving vital problems, not political declarations or slogans, are able to show the presence of a political will to normalize relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic".

Yastrebchak also stated, "Attempts to turn a blind eye on the presence of such serious problems as tens of criminal cases started in Moldova on political motives against Transnistria representatives, as the ruinous customs regime being applied against Transnistrian enterprises that are thus suffering a damage measured in millions of U.S. dollars, will never lead to a growth of trust between the sides".
