New Moldovan authorities register NDI and IRI offices in Chisinau
The Moldovan branch offices of the United States' National Democratic Institute (NDI) and International Republican Institute (IRI) have received registration certificates on Tuesday.
On behalf of the new Moldovan Government, recently appointed Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase offered apologies and voiced regret that the accreditation of such prominent institutions in Moldova were dragged for so long without grounds. He thanked the institutions' experts for the support they render to Moldova in modernizing its political system.
Tanase stressed that the NDI and IRI provided assistance to all Moldovan political parties, no matter in power or in opposition.
"These Institutions will remain important partners in the ongoing process of reforming the political system in Moldova. We shall eliminate all bureaucratic impediments to the Ministry of Justice's normal work, and are calling non-governmental organizations and the civil society to cooperation with us. The NDI and IRI registration is a new stage in the relationship between the Government and civil society", Minister Tanase said.
He promised the Ministry would do its utmost to restore citizens' trust in the Moldovan judiciary system.
