New government will reform, modernize Moldovan National Army
The Government's attitude to the National Army and its needs will radically change, Prime Minister Vlad Filat stated during his first visit to the Ministry of Defense on Monday.
There, he stated the armed forces will receive state assistance for their modernization and reforming.
"One of the acutest problems hindering the National Army's functioning is lack of dwellings for the military. I have demanded to thoroughly check the situation and find a solution to improve the military's living conditions", stated Vlad Filat.
He stressed that the appointment of Vitalie Marinuta as Minister of Defense is evidence of the civil society's control over the armed forces and of democratic principles observance.
Minister Marinuta thanked the country leadership for high honor and trust in him. He said he has set himself an objective to carry out an institutional reform of the Moldovan National Army according to European standards.
