Molodvan FM Leanca: No quick solution of Transnistrian conflict
Moldovan Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca presumes nobody in Chisinau, Tiraspol or elsewhere is expecting quick and effective achievements in the Transnistrian conflict settlement field.
In his interview with Radio Free Europe, Leanca said that the Transnistria conflict is a chronic, hardcore problem that would not be resolved during as many as 18 years despite numerous efforts, so there exist no hopes for its rapid solution.
For this to achieve, he presumes it is necessary to work very hard, to have new outlooks and new arguments that would convince the Tiraspol partners that the decisions Chisinau will announce one day will be favorable for the region as a whole and, certainly, for Republic of Moldova citizens no matter their ethnicity.
In his words, conflict solution depends primarily on Chisinau's efforts to sign agreements with Kiev and Moscow, and on how efficiently the European Union and the United States will be engaged in this process.
Last November 6, a consultative meeting in the format of 5+2 was held in Vienna - the first one since January 2006.
