Moldova’s Liberal Party has three nominations for presidency

Dorin Chirtoaca

Liberal Party of Moldova has several nominations for the position of president of the country. The Moldovan Ambassador to Washington DC Igor Munteanu, the composer Eugen Doga and the current president of the Constitutional Court Alexandru Tanase are among those proposed by the Party. The statement was made by Chisinau’s mayor Dorin Chirtoaca during a TV show.

Mr. Chirtoaca believes that the president wasn’t elected due to lack of will from the political counterparts. According to him, a president cannot be apolitical, because he is directly responsible for the foreign affairs of the country and is one of those three persons which have to manage the politics in the state.

He also believes that a constitutional referendum should have been organized in 2009, but they have given up lately.
The Republic of Moldova lacks a president as of 2009. The political stalemate is created by the opposition politicians who refuse to vote a pro-Western candidate.
