There are quite a few problems in the governing Alliance for European Integration that are constantly debated, but a split in the coalition is out of the question, the AEI constituent party leaders – Moldova’s Acting President, Parliament Chairman and Liberal Party Chairman Mihai Ghimpu, Prime Minister and head of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Moldova Noastra Alliance Chairman Serafim Urechean, and Democratic Party leader Marian Lupu – stated on the ProTV-Chisinau channel on Monday night.

They dispelled rumors that the Alliance is allegedly on the verge of a divorce. Mihai Ghimpu stated, for instance, “These are all insinuations being spread by the Communist opposition. No, everything is smooth in the Alliance”.

Vlad Filat was not that triumphant, remarking cautiously, “We are indeed not ideal, like anybody. Yes we have different viewpoints on some questions, and we even have hot discussions, but all our actions are in solidarity with other AEI parties, and all we do we do in citizens’ interests”.

MNA leader Serafim Urechean said, “Of course, there exist forces that would like to see our split, but this shall never happen. From the very beginning, we have worked out general principles to abide by, and we all shall be governed by these principles despite whatever hardships”.

Marian Lupu said, “The actual state of things in the Alliance should neither idealized nor dramatized. The coalitional form of governance is a hard job requiring tolerance and careful coordination of actions. We are learning how to work team-like after 8 years of the rule of one party, and we are working to strengthen our alliance”.

Infotag’s dossier: Last week, Radio Deutsche Welle reported friction between Vlad Filat and Marian Lupu, which allegedly is threatening to the further existence of the ruling coalition.
