Moldovan, Romanian journalists complain of persecution
Six Moldovan and one Romanian journalist with assistance from the Independent Journalism Centre have asked the Moldovan prosecution to identify and bring to account individuals responsible for abusing them in the wake of the 7 April disorders.
Among the claimants were the editor of the centrist with pro-Romanian slant Jurnal de Chisinau paper, Rodica Mahu, four correspondents of pro-opposition Ziarul de Garda, a cameraman of the Internet TV channel Jurnal TV, Oleg Brega, and a correspondent of TVR Romanian public television's channel in Chisinau, Doru Dendiu. They state that were assaulted by police while performing their professional duties.
