Moldovan presidential candidate meets Russian ruling party leaders
The chairman of the Duma International Affairs Committee, Konstantin Kosachev, met the head of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Marian Lupu on 31 October.
Lupu, who is a presidential candidate in Moldova, was invited to Moscow by the One Russia party.
Kosachev told journalists after the meeting that the sides discussed the issues of development of the domestic political situation in Moldova and Russia and the prospects for and forms of building up cooperation between the two countries in the parliamentary and party areas.
Kosachev said that the discussion was of "absolutely constructive and sincere nature".
"Lupu was well know in the Duma when he was the speaker of the Moldovan parliament and when he participated in the joint work of the delegations of two countries on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe," Kosachev said.
He said that Lupu's election as the chairman of the Moldovan Democratic Party creates ad! ditional stimulus for development of the relations of this party and the One Russia.
Kosachev, who is the deputy secretary of the presidium of the party's general council, said that Lupu has other meetings with the One Russian leadership scheduled for 31 Oct.
