Moldovan premier meets Chinese ambassador

Prime Minister Vlad Filat today met Chinese Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Moldova Fang Li, the government's communications and press relations department has said.

Vlad Filat congratulated the Chinese diplomat on the beginning of his mission in Moldova.

The prime minister said that the Moldovan government had established good relations with the Chisinau-based Chinese embassy. He voiced hope that these traditions of understanding and mutual interest would continue.

Filat reiterated the government's intention to enhance cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of developing trade relations and taking over the Chinese experience in promoting industrial parks. In the context, the premier said that the agenda of his visit to China on 11-14 September was a consistent one, expressing confidence that it would bring benefits to Moldova.

"I hope that this visit will foster the Moldovan-Chinese relations in all sectors. Additionally to the previously discussed projects, we will make real proposals for the creation of investment-friendly platforms for Chinese investors," Filat mentioned.

The prime minister said that the Moldovan government was interested in collaboration with China in all sectors, in particular energy, transport and trade. Also, Vlad Filat said that the diversification of sales markets for Moldovan goods, especially wines, is highly topical for Moldova. In the context, participation in the International Exhibition Shanghai 2010 is important for Moldova. Furthermore, Filat advocated a Moldovan-Chinese dialogue on bilateral relations based on mutual interest.

"The Republic of Moldova should be seen as a platform of clear prospects of access both to European and Eastern markets," Filat said.

For his part, Fang Li said that the Chinese government paid special attention to bilateral relations with Moldova. He expressed hope that during his mandate he would manage to carry out many joint projects that would contribute to the extension and enhancement of Moldovan-Chinese relations.

The sides agreed upon another meeting to discuss the results of the prime minister's visit to China. The officials advocated a permanent dialogue to openly coordinate all aspects of the bilateral cooperation.
