Moldovan premier, German chancellor discuss ties by phone
Prime Minister Vlad Filat had a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel today, the government's communications and press relations department has said.
Angela Merkel congratulated Vlad Filat on his election as prime minister, and wished him new achievements for the benefit of Moldova and its citizens.
The two officials discussed bilateral relations, Moldova's European integration and the process of settling the Transnistrian conflict.
Angela Merkel reconfirmed Germany's support for Moldova, noting particularly the assistance which her country is willing to further provide for the Transnistrian settlement.
The prime minister praised Germany's constant support for Moldova.
Filat said that, for Moldova, Germany is a sincere and reliable partner. He specified that Moldova wants to cooperate in continuation with Germany in order to identify solutions to problems of common interest.
The prime minister invited Angela Merkel to visit Moldova in 2011, noting that the visit is of special importance for the country.
