Moldovan parliament to held extraordinary meeting this week
The parliament will hold an extraordinary meeting in a week, starting from 11 January, Parliament Speaker and acting President Marian Lupu has told journalists after a Christmas religious service held at the Chisinau-based Birth of God Cathedral.
Lupu said that an extraordinary meeting is needed because of the parliament's busy agenda and because of the high number of legislative acts and amendments due to be passed. Also, the members of the parliament's Permanent Bureau are to be elected and the structure of the parliamentary commissions is to be established at the 11 January meeting.
"By late next week, the Democratic Party and the other parliamentary factions should decide upon the structure of the government," Lupu said. He added that "the Democratic Party will act in line with the principle of continuity and will not appoint new people in the government."
Talking to journalists after the religious service held at the Birth of God Cathedral, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that he would present the composition of the new cabinet to the parliament for approval on 14 January.
