Moldovan opposition party unveils programme for snap election
A strategy of preventing the polarization of society, an impartial investigation into the 7 April events [riots against the alleged rigging of the 5 April parliamentary election], European integration and 100-euro pensions are some of the promises by the opposition Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), which today unveiled its platform for the 29 July snap parliamentary election.
"Only through joint efforts we have the chance to live well in our own country. After eight years of Communist government, our entire society is split up. Due to the Communists' constant, I would say, criminal efforts, we have a very tense atmosphere. During this campaign, and which is very important, after this election campaign, we are going to consolidate our society, Vlad Filat, PLDM leader said.
The PLDM slogan for this campaign is "Together for Moldova". The PLDM said it would launch an investigation involving foreign experts to e! lucidate the 7 April events. In social terms, the PLDM electoral programme envisages the increase in pensions up to 100 euros and birth allowances to 700 euros. As concerns foreign policy, the Liberal Democrats advocate Moldova's European integration and a strategic partnership with the USA. The party promised to take concerted efforts so that Moldovans travel to Europe visa free starting from 2011 and to obtain Moldova's status of EU associate by 2012.
