Moldovan official welcomes EU's go-ahead for talks on new accord
The Moldovan government has welcomed the right given to the country to hold negotiations on a new agreement with the EU.
The first deputy prime minister and economics and trade minister, Igor Dodon, said this at a news conference on Tuesday, 16 June. Dodon did not conceal his satisfaction with the decision taken in Luxembourg on 15 June.
He said that the adoption of the mandate for talks means that the reforms that Moldova carried out in line with the Moldova-EU Action Plan have been recognized. Dodon said that Moldova's special state commission is ready for negotiations on a draft agreement with the EU and Moldova hopes to receive status of an associate member of the EU.
