Moldovan Liberal Party leader views PLDM's today's offer as good, but tardy -Moldpres (Moldova)
The leader of the Liberal Party (PL), Mihai Ghimpu, thinks that the offer made by the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) is a good step, but which comes with delay.
At a today's news conference, Mihai Ghimpu said that the parties from the Alliance for European Integration (AIE), which made it to the parliament, were late with a simple decision to sit down at a table of negotiations. "Even if we heard an offer today, this fact worries the PL, as the Communists started the negotiations with the Democratic Party (PD)."
The PL leader said that he wants to believe in this offer. At the same time, he wants to believe that the PLDM does not see the alliance only in the distribution of the posts. "Everything suits the PL, if we are a team, and we do not try to see who is stronger and bigger. Inter alia, the office of speaker is the most difficult one, it is a post in which not even a step can be made, as everything is being decided by vote in the parliament."
Mihai Ghimpu appealed to the PLDM and the PD to forget the two variants they have - to negotiate with the Party of Communists (PCRM) - and to make the citizens happy with a democratic government, re-bringing justice, supremacy of law, with everything that means European values and standards. The PL leader emphasized that it is urgently necessary to sit down at the table of negotiations. He said that the parties with democratic orientation which made it to the parliament should "display the cards and reach an agreement, so as to no longer torment the citizens who voted us." "We should not boil down to the three offices, as not this fact is important, but to make an alliance that is to work in the name and in the interest of the citizens," Ghimpu said. He stressed that the PL trusts its colleagues of the alliance, "as the latter exists and we believe it will exist in future as well."
Under a proposal by PLDM leader Vlad Filat, the PL is to have the post of parliament speaker, the PD - the office of Moldovan president, while the PLDM opts for the post of prime minister.
