Numerous legislative violations have been registered during the campaign for the 29 July snap parliamentary election, the Moldovan League for the Protection of Human Rights (LADOM) said today while presenting a monitoring report for 16-27 July.

LADOM head Paul Strutzescu listed among the violations the large-scale use of administrative resources, intimidation of electoral contenders and voters, placement of electoral advertising in unauthorized places and distribution of presents and material aid for electoral purposes.

He said that the ruling Communist Party (PCRM) abused the administrative resources the most, but this is also valid of the opposition Our Moldova Alliance (AMN) and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM). Members of the AMN, PLDM, Democratic Party and Liberal Party were most often threatened by unidentified people and Communists.

"There are cases when PCRM provocateurs attended meetings with voters organized by the leaders of the above-mentioned parties and started quarrels. We also recorded cases when backers of some opposition parties were subjected to attacks from the PCRM and were barred from entering meetings with opposition leaders," the report said.
