Moldovan Foreign Minister’s statement on the relations with the USA

For the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Moldova and the United States, the Moldovan Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca issued a statement.

“I am honored and pleased to convey to you my warmest congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the diplomatic relations between our countries. This day is an important milestone in the cooperation of our countries, a milestone of friendship, success and achievements,” informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration in a press release.

Addressing to the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Moldovan statesman emphasized American’s continuous support for the Government of Moldova.

“America’s and your personal continuous support is crucial for my Government’s efforts to expand democracy and respect for the rule of law and pursue the goal of European integration. The MCC Compact Agreement for Moldova, initiated under your leadership, marked a historic opportunity for the Moldovan people to build a better future.”

Iurie Leanca has reiterated the invitation for Mrs. Clinton to visit Moldova at her earliest convenience.

“May I also take this opportunity to reiterate the invitation for you to visit Chisinau at your earliest convenience. I strongly believe that your visit to Moldova would send an important signal of support and unyielding engagement of the United States in supporting the Euro-Atlantic choice made by Moldova,” added Mr. Leanca.

The Republic of Moldova and the United States of America marked yesterday 20 years of diplomatic relations.
