Moldovan Foreign Minister meets Council of Europe Commissioner
Moldovan Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Stratan today met with a delegation from the Council of Europe led by CE Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg.
The guests are studying the post-election situation in Moldova and observance of human rights. Hammarberg said the visit findings would be reflected in a special report, which will contain recommendations as well.
Andrei Stratan briefed the CE experts on the recent post-election events here and on measures being undertaken by the country leadership to overcome the political crisis and stabilize situation.
The Deputy Premier said European integration remains the republic's chief political priority and objective, which is supported by 70% Moldovan populace. He spoke out for strengthening ties with European countries and for introducing European standards in Moldova.
