Moldovan Foreign Minister denies any allegations about the federalization of Moldova
Moldovan Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca denies the recent ventures on a potential federalization project which would allegedly be launched by German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Several political analysts have recently expressed concern about the information which appeared in press regarding some eventual German plans to propose Moldova to create a federation with Transnistria.
“All the allegations about federalization have nothing in common with the reality and the objectives we are about to have with our German partners,” Iurie Leanca said during a press conference in Bucharest yesterday, quoted by Mediafax news agency.
The Head of the Moldovan diplomacy said that Ms. Merkel’s visit to Moldova is designed to support the country on its way to modernization and Europeanization.
“We succeeded to convince our German partners that all problems, including the Transnistrian conflict, can be settled within a clear setting of Europeanization of the Republic of Moldova,” Mr. Leanca said.
Germany’s Angela Merkel will visit Moldova by the end of this summer.
