Moldovan delegation present at Council of Europe’s Assembly

The president of the Moldovan Parliament’s delegation to the Council of Europe, Liliana Palihovici had several official meetings with the President of Venice Commission, Gianni Buquicchio, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland and with Josette Durieux, the ex-rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for the Republic of Moldova, informs the Moldovan Parliament in a press release.

The official talks focused on the current social-political issues from Moldova, especially the need to change the Constitution in order to find the best solution to elect the president. The officials expressed their commitment and support for a democratic development of the Republic of Moldova and its integration within the European Union.

The same delegation from Moldova had some other meetings with the co-rapporteurs of the Council of Europe for Moldova, Lise Christoffersen and Piotr Wach. The discussions focused on the monitoring the commitment and responsibilities of the Republic of Moldova.

The Moldovan delegation, led by Liliana Palihovici, deputy within the Moldovan Parliament, is in Strasbourg from January 23 until January 27, 2012 at the winter Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

The Republic of Moldova joined the Council of Europe in July 1995.
