Moldovan Communists lead in parliamentary election - preliminary results


With 4 per cent of the ballots cast at the 28 November parliamentary election counted, the Party of Communists leads with 50 per cent, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has said.

CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan said that the Liberal Democratic Party has 21.7 per cent, the Democratic Party 12.6 per cent and the Liberal Party 6.5 per cent.

Ciocan stressed that 40 per cent of the counted ballot papers were from the northern Ocnita district, 15 per cent from the northern Drochia and Edinet district each and 14 per cent from the central Singerei district.
