Moldovan authorities’ objective - to have up-to-date armed forces
“The objective of the Moldovan authorities is to have up-to-date, well-trained and well-equipped armed forces, which are abele to fulfill any mission in the defense of the country”, the Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin said at the ceremony of taking a military oath last Saturday.
The President said the armed forces are a statehood attribute, peace and stability guarantor.
“Our servicemen demonstrated their professionalism in the course of numerous multinational exercises and peacekeeping missions under the auspices of the UN and the OSCE. One of such missions was a humanitarian post-conflict neutralization of explosives and Moldovan servicemen returned home [from Iraq] with a repute of high professionals”, Vladimir Voronin remarked.
He also said that the year 2009 is the year, when we celebrate the 650th anniversary of the Moldovan state foundation.
‘Many events, including actions concerning the military-patriotic education of the youth, will be devoted to this event. I consider that a very important role will be played in this matter by the armed forces, which must make a particular stress on the patriotic education in the military training process. It is necessary to bring up servicemen in the spirit of self-sacrifice for their country and the people”, he concluded.
