Moldovan acting president sends message to Russian counterpart
Acting President Mihai Ghimpu sent a message to his Russian counterpart, Dmitriy Medvedev, the presidential press service has said.
The message says:
"Your Excellency,
Thank you for your congratulatory message and for the wishes you conveyed on the occasion of Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova.
I would like to avail myself of this occasion to reiterate the interest of the Republic of Moldova in establishing constructive and efficient dialogue based on mutual respect in order to develop cooperation between the two states in all sectors.
I express hope that the difficulties that have recently occurred in the export of our wines and agricultural goods will be settled as soon as possible. I am sure that these problems will be discussed and solved in the nearest future by Moldovan and Russian experts, proceeding from the interests of the two states' citizens and from the principles of the Moldovan-Russian strategic partnership stipulated in the basic treaty signed in 2001.
I would also like to assure you that we further believe that Russia can constructively contribute to the identification of a fair solution to the Transnistrian issue, which would be based on Moldova's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Your Excellency, please accept wishes of good health and prosperity for you and the Russian people, towards whom we nourish a cordial and constant affection."
