Moldova wants to strengthen its relations with Azerbaijan

By Valeriu Gonta/ Chisinau/ Moldova.ORG/ -- The Moldovan Prime-Minister Vlad Filat has met today with Namig Aliyev, the Azeri Ambassador to Moldova, according to a press release of the Government. The counterparts talked about Filat’s official visit to Republic of Azerbaijan, which will take place during January 17-18, 2012.

The Premier stated that the purpose of his visit is to develop relations between countries, as well as strengthening the co-operation in the fields of economy, trade, energy and culture.

“We have prepared many projects which we want to implement together with the Azeri side, projects which will benefit both sides,” said the Moldovan Premier.

The Prime-Minister has mentioned about the strong relations between the countries, especially because they are both members of regional and European organizations, such as GUAM, OSCE, the Council of Europe and the Eastern Partnership. The Ambassador said that Filat’s agenda includes many activities and meetings. Mr. Aliyev said that he is confident in a future strengthening of the Moldovan – Azeri relations.

Vlad Filat will meet with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliev, the President of the Parliament, Mili Mejlisului and the Prime-Minister, Artur Rasizade.
