Moldova to receive about 6m euros from EU, UK
Moldova will receive money from the EU and the UK to pay compensations for the recently increased energy rates.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat and the head of the European Commission's Delegation to Moldova Ambassador Dirk Schuebel today signed a supplement to a financial agreement between Moldova and the European Commission.
Vlad Filat: "It has become possible to pay compensations to 260,000 Moldovan citizens due to direct support from our sincere friends. Today I signed an agreement with the European Commission which sees 2.4m euros meant to cover the difference in rates. I want to thank our European partners and the ambassador personally for their support."
The financial assistance will arrive in Moldova very soon. In addition, the United Kingdom granted 4m pounds (about 4m euros) to Moldova for the same purpose.
